Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year!:
I am thrilled to be your fifth grade teacher! I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your child as we work together throughout this school year. Ms. Dietz, Mrs. Maschas, and I have a rigorous and fun year of learning planned for your child!
New Safety Precautions:We continue to focus on safety this year. No child will be without an adult escort when outside the school building. You may notice when you come to check out your child, if the student is in PE or on the playground, you will be given a pass to collect the student from these locations. Once you have retrieved your child from outside, if you need to return to the building, you will need to walk around to the front entrance to access the school. We will not have any other outside doors unlocked. Please allow extra time for this when checking out your child. I appreciate your continuous support.
Student Council is hosting a food drive next week (May 5-9). All of the food collected will help families in our community. We are asking for each grade level to bring different types of food.

Grade books:
I will update my grade books weekly - typically on Monday. Please check your child's grade books. If your child has "not turned in" an assignment, there will be an "NTI" where their grade should be placed. Your child may still turn in their work. However, it is our goal to meet our deadlines on time. Please talk to your child about the importance of turning in work when it is due.
A Note From Ms. Watts:
Please remember that if your child is absent from school, you need to send a note to the school stating the reason for his or her absence. The note should be sent on the day your student returns to school, but no later than one week afterwards. Signatures are required - emails are not accepted.
